Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Planner - Airport Project to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of Mississauga.

We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads environmental reviews of Facility Alteration Permits (FAP) in collaboration with Environmental Services to ensure compliance with applicable environmental standards and requirements.

  • Engages with internal and external stakeholders to identify, assess, and manage environmental risks associated with the project.

  • Coordinates with GTAA Environmental Services to consult with relevant regulatory agencies on environmental plans and stays informed on evolving regulations impacting the Pearson LIFT program.

  • Monitors and tracks progress on environmental aspects and mitigation measures across the program, providing management-level reporting to identify trends and offer strategic recommendations for informed decision-making.

Qualifications

​​​​​Minimum Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:

  • University Degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or related field + 2 years of professional experience in environmental planning within the construction / development sector.

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with large, complex infrastructure programs is considered an asset.

  • Proven experience in monitoring, tracking, and delivering environmental components in infrastructure or development projects.

  • Familiarity with federal and provincial environmental regulatory agencies, and working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Impact Assessment Act (IAA), Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), and the Fisheries Act.

  • Experience managing and reporting on complex contaminated sites.

  • Strong technical skills across all project phases, with the ability to leverage data analytics and produce high-quality technical reports.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field; a professional designation (e.g., Qualified Person - QP) is considered an asset.

Additional Information

This position requires work on-site/out of the office 5 days a week.
