Job Description

Our diverse Energy Team are looking for Principal Substation Engineers to join our team, based in Brisbane. We are looking for Primary or Secondary Substation engineers who are looking for career growth, technical development and the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with our long-standing client base.

How you’ll make a difference:

  • Use your substation design skills and technical expertise to closely partner with key clients to delivery major energy projects across Australia and New Zealand.

  • Lead, deliver and support Engineers across large multidisciplinary Energy projects across Australia.

  • Drive conceptual and detailed design work across major projects in Queensland, and throughout ANZ, ensuring we are delivering on the AECOM client promise.

  • Identify and lead innovation by seeking and implementing new approaches that continuously enhance our ability to meet the needs of our clients.

  • Provide technical input, and review junior engineers work on HV substation design, single line & schematic diagrams, protection and control systems and power system studies.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • Ideally, 8-15 years’ experience and proven understanding of consulting in Transmission and Distribution projects, with experience in substation design of primary and/or secondary systems (up to 500kV).

  • Familiarity with complex Energy projects and substation design standards, including HV substation design, protection schemes and primary plant technologies.

  • Proven background in partnering closely with clients (specifically utility providers in Australia) to deliver remarkable projects.

  • Approachable team member with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Local market knowledge of NEM and strong understanding of the Energy market across Australia and/or New Zealand is strongly preferred.
