Job Description
AECOM are seeking a Senior Urban Planner who would be responsible for design development, design review, supervision of other professionals, coordination, design documentation and report writing. The Senior Urban Planner guides junior professionals and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete design works, contributing to strategy and innovation discussions regarding delivery methodologies, including solutions for complex, challenging customer/market needs. Contributes to developing project outcomes and coordinating the team to effectively manage the resourcing and delivery of our deliverables as agreed with the Director and clients.
Technical Excellence:
Identify relevant market research objectives and topics in line with project briefs and internal thought leadership.
Review and derive necessary information for projects before use and discussions with clients.
Read, qualify, quantify, and graphically represent urban planning standards applicable to projects and apply the same to design tasks. Determine the correct source of planning and urban planning regulatory guidelines per region or authority and present key findings to senior urban planners and peers.
Fully develops the design content by applying design and technical knowledge to ensure the production of high-quality outputs by following project timelines.
Team Contribution
Structure teams for urban planning projects with a clear understanding of project roles and responsibilities.
Communicate with peers and ensure knowledge sharing occurs across the various studios and teams around lessons learnt.
Orient, integrate, guide, and mentor new urban planning recruits and provide them with access to relevant sample material and projects.
Advocate for quality procedures applicable to the urban planning technical practice group and continuously apply thorough self-checks and reviews of deliverables before they are shared.
Client Relationship Management:
Begins to build and maintain client relationships.
Attend client meetings as technical support to gather information, discuss project requirements, explain/ defend work, etc.
Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals—the ability to present solutions to clients professionally and technically competently.
Understand bid requirements and can support putting together bids' technical approach and methodologies while supporting delivery structure, coordinating input, and implementing commercial aspects of bids.
Qualifications
Minimum 6 years post-undergraduate experience
Post Graduate Degree in Spatial, Economic, Policy Planning
Bachelors degree in the relevant discipline field. Masters degree preferred. Working towards professional membership in Urban Design or Architecture e.g. RIBA or equivalent in the relevant discipline degree.
