Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer / Modeller to join our team. We are looking for candidates that are enthusiastic and team-oriented with strong technical capabilities in development of water balances and water quality models to work with our experienced team of geologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists and numerical modellers on projects in the mining, remediation, civil infrastructure, waste management, hydropower and water supply sectors across Canada and internationally. While our preference is for the successful candidate to be based out of our Calgary or Burnaby offices, alternative locations will also be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
Work within a team of water resource engineers, atmospheric scientists, geochemists, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists and biologists on a wide variety of mining, major infrastructure, water resource and remediation opportunities.
Work closely with geochemists to develop deterministic and probabilistic water balance and water quality models using GoldSim, Excel and a range of supporting tools (HEC-HMS, etc.) to support baseline studies and resolve complex water resource and environmental problems.
Support development of contaminant transport models to support environmental impact assessments, remedial evaluations and risk assessments using software packages such as PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, GoldSim and other modelling packages.
Work with water resource engineers to design and oversee establishment of hydrometric monitoring networks, development of rating curves and generation of continuous flow series to support water resource evaluations.
Compile and evaluate the quality of meteorological and hydrological data, and complete regional analysis to produce synthetic records in support of baseline studies, environmental flow needs assessments and integrated groundwater/surface water interaction studies.
Produce climate and/or hydrology baseline reports and complete hydrometric analysis (frequency analysis) of existing and future conditions.
Work with atmospheric scientists to evaluate the impacts of climate change on water quantity and quality using advanced analytical approaches.
Interpret, report, review and communicate the findings of hydrology and water balance studies to diverse audiences that include First Nations, regulatory agencies, technical reviewers and the public.
